또 {주}께서 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되,

The LORD also spoke to Joshua, saying,
|

|
여호와께서 여호수아에게 일러 가라사대
|
|
|

|
이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르라. 내가 모세의 손으로 너희에게 말한 도피 도시들을 너희를 위해 지정하여
|

"Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'Appoint for yourselves cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,
|
|
|
|
이스라엘 자손에게 고하여 이르라 내가 모세로 너희에게 말한 도피성을 택정하여
|
|
|

|
알지 못하고 자기도 모르게 사람을 죽이는 자가 거기로 도망하게 하라. 그 도피 도시들은 피의 원수를 갚는 자로부터 너희를 지켜 줄 피난처니라.

'that the slayer who kills a person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there; and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
|
|
|
|
부지중 오살한 자를 그리로 도망하게 하라 이는 너희 중 피의 보수자를 피할 곳이니라

|
|

그 도시들 중의 하나로 도망하는 자는 그 도시의 문어귀에 서서 그 도시 장로들의 귀에 자기 사정을 밝히 말할 것이요, 그들은 도시 안으로 자기들에게로 그를 받아들이고 그에게 처소를 주어 그가 자기들 가운데 거하게 하고

'And when he flees to one of those cities, and stands at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declares his case in the hearing of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city as one of them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
|

|
|
그 성읍들의 하나에 도피하는 자는 그 성읍에 들어가는 문 어귀에 서서 그 성읍 장로들의 귀에 자기의 사고를 고할 것이요 그들은 그를 받아 성읍에 들여 한 곳을 주어 자기들 중에 거하게 하고

피의 원수를 갚는 자가 그를 추격한다 할지라도 사람을 죽인 자를 그의 손에 넘겨주지 말지니 이는 그가 전에 자기 이웃을 미워하지 아니하다가 자기도 모르게 자기 이웃을 쳤기 때문이라.

'Then if the avenger of blood pursues him, they shall not deliver the slayer into his hand, because he struck his neighbor unintentionally, but did not hate him beforehand.
|
|
|
|
피의 보수자가 그 뒤를 따라온다 할지라도 그들은 그 살인자를 그의 손에 내어주지 말지니 이는 본래 미워함이 없이 부지중에 그 이웃을 죽였음이라
|
|
|

|
사람을 죽인 자는 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받을 때까지 또 그 당시의 대제사장이 죽을 때까지 그 도시에 거하다가 그 뒤에 자기의 도시 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 그 도시에 있는 자기 집으로 돌아갈지니라.

'And he shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the one who is high priest in those days. Then the slayer may return and come to his own city and his own house, to the city from which he fled.'"

|
그 살인자가 회중의 앞에 서서 재판을 받기까지나 당시 대제사장의 죽기까지 그 성읍에 거하다가 그 후에 그 살인자가 본 성읍 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 그 성읍의 자기 집으로 돌아갈지니라

¶ 그들이 납달리 산의 갈릴리의 게데스와 에브라임 산의 세겜과 유다 산의 기럇아르바 곧 헤브론을 지정하고

So they appointed Kedesh in Galilee, in the mountains of Naphtali, Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron) in the mountains of Judah.

|
|
무리가 납달리의 산지 갈릴리 게데스와 에브라임 산지의 세겜과 유다 산지의 기럇 아르바 곧 헤브론을 구별하였고

또 요르단 저편 곧 동쪽으로 여리고 옆에는 르우벤 지파에서 평야 위 광야의 베셀과 갓 지파에서 길르앗의 라못과 므낫세 지파에서 바산의 골란을 지정하였더라.

And on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.

|
|
또 여리고 동 요단 저편 르우벤 지파 중에서 평지 광야의 베셀과 갓 지파 중에서 길르앗라못과 므낫세 지파 중에서 바산 골란을 택하였으니
|

이것들은 이스라엘의 모든 자손과 그들 가운데 머무는 타국인을 위하여 지정한 도시들이었으니 이것은 누구든지 알지 못하고 어떤 사람을 죽이는 경우 거기로 도망하여 회중 앞에 설 때까지 피의 원수를 갚는 자의 손에 죽지 아니하게 하려 함이었더라.

These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel and for the stranger who dwelt among them, that whoever killed a person accidentally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stood before the congregation.
|
|
|
|
이는 곧 이스라엘 모든 자손과 그들 중에 우거하는 객을 위하여 선정한 성읍들로서 누구든지 부지중 살인한 자로 그리로 도망하여 피의 보수자의 손에 죽지 않게 하기 위함이며 그는 회중 앞에 설 때까지 거기 있을것이니라
