1	그 날에 아하수에로 왕이 유대인들의 원수 하만의 집을 왕비 에스더에게 주니라. 에스더가 모르드개가 자기와 어떤 관계인가를 왕에게 고하였으므로 그가 왕 앞에 나아오니	0
	On that day King Ahasuerus gave Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.
	당일에 아하수에로 왕이 유다인의 대적 하만의 집을 왕후 에스더에게 주니라 에스더가 모르드개는 자기에게 어떻게 관계됨을 왕께 고한고로 모르드개가 왕의 앞에 나아오니
2	왕이 하만에게서 거둔 자기 반지를 빼어 모르드개에게 주매 에스더가 모르드개를 세워 하만의 집을 다스리게 하니라.	0
	So the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman.
	왕이 하만에게 거둔 반지를 빼어 모르드개에게 준지라 에스더가 모르드개로 하만의 집을 주관하게 하니라
3	¶ 에스더가 여전히 다시 왕 앞에서 말하며 그의 발에 엎드려 아각 사람 하만의 해악과 유대인들을 치려고 그가 꾸민 그의 계략을 제거해 줄 것을 눈물로 그에게 간청하니	0
	Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman the Agagite, and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews.
	에스더가 다시 왕의 앞에서 말씀하며 왕의 발 아래 엎드려 아각 사람 하만이 유다인을 해하려 한 악한 꾀를 제하기를 울며 구하니
4	그때에 왕이 에스더를 향해 황금 홀(笏)을 내밀매 이에 에스더가 일어나 왕 앞에 서서	0
	And the king held out the golden scepter toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king,
	왕이 에스더를 향하여 금홀을 내어미는지라 에스더가 일어나 왕의 앞에 서서
5	이르되, 왕이 만일 기뻐하시며 내가 왕의 눈앞에서 호의를 입었고 또 왕이 그 일을 옳게 여기시며 왕의 눈으로 나를 기쁘게 보실진대 문서를 쓰게 하사 아각 사람 함므다다의 아들 하만이 왕의 모든 지방에 있는 유대인들을 멸하려고 계획하여 쓴 편지를 취소하소서.	0
	and said, "If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight and the thing seems right to the king and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to annihilate the Jews who are in all the king's provinces.
	가로되 왕이 만일 즐겨하시며 내가 왕의 목전에 은혜를 입었고 또 왕이 이 일을 선히 여기시며 나를 기쁘게 보실진대 조서를 내리사 아각 사람 함므다다의 아들 하만이 왕의 각 도에 있는 유다인을 멸하려고 꾀하고 쓴 조서를 취소하소서
6	내가 어찌 내 백성에게 임할 화를 차마 볼 수 있으리이까? 또 내 친족들이 멸망하는 것을 차마 볼 수 있으리이까? 하니라.	0
	"For how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my countrymen?"
	내가 어찌 내 민족의 화 당함을 참아 보며 내 친척의 멸망함을 참아 보리이까
7	¶ 그때에 아하수에로 왕이 왕비 에스더와 유대인 모르드개에게 이르되, 보라, 하만이 유대인들에게 손을 대었으므로 그들이 그를 교수대에 매달았고 내가 그의 집을 에스더에게 주었으니	0
	Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, "Indeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews.
	아하수에로 왕이 왕후 에스더와 유다인 모르드개에게 이르되 하만이 유다인을 살해하려 하므로 나무에 달렸고 내가 그 집으로 에스더에게 주었으니
8	너희는 또한 왕의 이름으로 유대인들을 위해 너희 마음대로 문서를 쓰고 왕의 반지로 그것을 날인할지어다. 왕의 이름으로 기록하고 왕의 반지로 날인한 문서는 아무도 취소할 수 없느니라, 하니라.	0
	"You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for whatever is written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet ring no one can revoke."
	너희는 왕의 명의로 유다인에게 조서를 뜻대로 쓰고 왕의 반지로 인을 칠지어다 왕의 이름을 쓰고 왕의 반지로 인친 조서는 누구든지 취소할 수 없음이니라
9	이에 그때에 셋째 달 곧 시반 월 즉 그 달 이십삼일에 왕의 서기관들이 소집되어 모르드개가 명령한 모든 것에 따라 문서를 써서 인도로부터 에티오피아까지 백스물일곱 지방의 유대인들과 부관들과 지방들의 총독들과 치리자들에게 보내되 각 지방의 글에 따라 각 지방에, 각 백성에게 그들의 말대로 보내고 또 유대인들에게 그들의 글과 말로 보내니라.	0
	So the king's scribes were called at that time, in the third month, which is the month of Sivan, on the twenty-third day; and it was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, the satraps, the governors, and the princes of the provinces from India to Ethiopia, one hundred and twenty-seven provinces in all, to every province in its own script, to every people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own script and language.
	그때 시완월 곧 삼월 이십삼일에 왕의 서기관이 소집되고 무릇 모르드개의 시키는 대로 조서를 써서 인도로부터 구스까지의 일백이십칠 도 유다인과 대신과 방백과 관원에게 전할새 각 도의 문자와 각 민족의 방언과 유다인의 문자와 방언대로 쓰되
10	그가 아하수에로 왕의 이름으로 쓰고 왕의 반지로 그것을 날인해서 말 등에 타는 파발꾼들과 노새와 낙타와 젊은 단봉낙타를 타는 자들을 통해 편지를 보내니라.	0
	And he wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, sealed it with the king's signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, riding on royal horses bred from swift steeds.
	아하수에로 왕의 명의로 쓰고 왕의 반지로 인을 치고 그 조서를 역졸들에게 부쳐 전하게 하니 저희는 왕궁에서 길러서 왕의 일에 쓰는 준마를 타는 자들이라
11	그 편지에서 왕은 모든 도시에 있던 유대인들이 함께 모여 자기들의 생명을 지키기 위해 일어서고 또 그들 즉 어린것들과 여인들을 습격하려는 백성과 지방의 모든 권력자들을 멸하고 죽이고 소멸시키며 또 그들에게서 전리품을 취해 탈취물로 삼을 것을 허락하되	0
	By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives--to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions,
	조서에는 왕이 여러 고을에 있는 유다인에게 허락하여 저희로 함께 모여 스스로 생명을 보호하여 각 도의 백성 중 세력을 가지고 저희를 치려하는 자와 그 처자를 죽이고 도륙하고 진멸하고 그 재산을 탈취하게 하되
12	아하수에로 왕의 모든 지방에서 하루에 즉 십이월 곧 아달 월 십삼일에 할 것을 그들에게 허락하였고	0
	on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.
	아하수에로 왕의 각 도에서 아달월 곧 십이월 십삼일 하루 동안에 하게 하였고
13	모든 지방에 전달될 명령을 기록한 문서의 사본을 모든 백성들에게 널리 알려 유대인들이 그 날을 대비하여 그들의 원수들에게 복수하게 하니라.	0
	A copy of the document was to be issued as a decree in every province and published for all people, so that the Jews would be ready on that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
	이 조서 초본을 각 도에 전하고 각 민족에게 반포하고 유다인으로 예비하였다가 그 날에 대적에게 원수를 갚게 한지라
14	이처럼 노새와 낙타를 탄 파발꾼들이 왕의 명령에 따라 신속히 재촉하여 나가매 그 칙령이 수산 궁에 전달되니라.	0
	The couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king's command. And the decree was issued in Shushan the citadel.
	왕의 명이 심히 급하매 역졸이 왕의 일에 쓰는 준마를 타고 빨리 나가고 그 조서가 도성 수산에도 반포되니라
15	¶ 모르드개가 청색과 흰색으로 된 왕의 예복을 입고 금으로 된 큰 관을 쓰고 고운 아마와 자주색 옷을 입고 왕 앞에서 물러나오니 수산 시가 기뻐하며 즐거워하고	0
	So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, with a great crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.
	모르드개가 푸르고 흰 조복을 입고 큰 금면류관을 쓰고 자색 가는 베 겉옷을 입고 왕의 앞에서 나오니 수산 성이 즐거이 부르며 기뻐하고
16	유대인들에게는 광명과 기쁨과 즐거움과 존귀가 있었더라.	0
	The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor.
	유다인에게는 영광과 즐거움과 기쁨과 존귀함이 있는지라
17	왕의 명령과 그의 칙령이 전달된 모든 곳에서는 각 지방과 각 도시에서 유대인들이 기뻐하고 즐거워하여 잔치를 열고 좋은 날을 보냈으며 그 땅의 백성 중에서 많은 사람이 유대인이 되었으니 이는 유대인들의 두려움이 그들에게 임하였기 때문이더라.	0
	And in every province and city, wherever the king's command and decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday. Then many of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.
	왕의 조명이 이르는 각 도, 각 읍에서 유다인이 즐기고 기뻐하여 잔치를 베풀고 그 날로 경절을 삼으니 본토 백성이 유다인을 두려워하여 유다인 되는 자가 많더라
